Developing Spacetime, a platform to manage and optimise complex, highly dynamic communications networks that span land, sea, air and space. Aalyria was spun out of Google’s Loom project.

Developed a large distributed platform for the formal verification of machine learning models, with applications in finance and object detection.

• Built the full DevOps pipeline to deploy the platform, using Tilt, Docker, Kubernetes and Terraform on AWS.
• Extended the verification platform to support images, adding verification of image classification models.
• Took on leadership across the team: connecting people, leading meetings and scheduling design sessions.

Developed a distributed universal IoT platform focused on secure onboarding and device management.

• Lead backend engineer on a distributed system across Python (Django) and Go, with MongoDB, deployed on AWS and Azure.
• Rewrote and optimised the platform API, making it 10–30× faster.
• Led the design, planning and implementation of new services, including writing the features and user stories for them.
• Improved the maintainability, performance and reliability of legacy codebases; led code-quality initiatives such as onboarding projects into SonarQube.
• Designed and implemented functionality involving Embedded Linux, TPMs, MQTT, FOTA updates, HSMs and highly threaded virtual devices.
• Worked across teams to push for better infrastructure, cleaner architecture, and better coding practices and standards.
• Onboarded, trained and mentored members of the team.

Full-stack engineer on two Innovate UK funded projects focused on cloud and industrial IoT orchestration.

• Researched and developed a cloud-native architecture for an IoT platform that detects remote devices and connects them to cloud-hosted virtual machines.
• Built a network scanner, backend REST API, frontend GUI and CLI, using Linux networking (VXLAN) and a VPN to detect devices across physical networks.
• Developed remote device detection for an inter-department project providing box defect detection services.

Researched and prototyped cloud orchestration solutions with the global R&D team, contributing to a successful Innovate UK application.

Contributed to a maritime detection prototype providing data streams from camera feeds, mobile antennas and radar. The system was deployed to a maritime light vessel as part of an EU Horizon funded proof-of-concept demonstration.

Supported first-year undergraduate labs: supervised workshops on circuit design, construction and experiment tracking, and gave students feedback and troubleshooting help.

An automated, visualised virtual network for generating network data, used to train a decision-tree intrusion detection model.
